*Important Information: COVID-19

Unfortunately, the Summer School 2020 could not take place during the Summer due to the current situation and government's decision regarding the COVID-19 precautions. However, the good news is: the Summer School is being postponed to February 2021 and is therefore called SHSG Winter School!
Key Dates: Part I: 8th-12th Feb 2021 and Part II: 15th-19th Feb 2021

Key changes due to the current situation in Switzerland
  • both Part I and Part II are being held virtually
  • since the event will be online the fee for student participants is set to 29 CHF instead of 99 CHF (great deal 😉)
  • because it is accredited as a contextual studies course it is only possible to take this course with ECTS: 2 ECTS for Bachelor and 3 ECTS for Master students

ATTENTION: the number of participants is limited!
Even if the SHSG Winter School is being held virtually, you will not regret this contextual studies course. Some exciting cases, workshops and social events are waiting for YOU to dive into the fascinating world of technology. Do not hesitate to apply now!”

SHSG Winter School 2021

Introduction

In a world where data is the new oil, new technologies are being integrated at an increasingly exponential rate in our daily lives. To become successful leaders of tomorrow students of today need a profound understanding of the digital world.

The Summer Coding Bootcamp was developed on the one hand, to meet the high demand for technology courses at the HSG, and on the other hand aims to give students a comprehensive introduction to topics of the field. Over the course of two intense weeks, students will immerse themselves into different aspects of current technology.

The course will teach you programming skills, focussing on Python, HTML/CSS, and more...

Summer School 2018 and 2019

“The amazing atmosphere during the SHSG Summerschool 2018 really kickstarted my motivation for coding and due to my learnings, I will be attending my first Hackathon this March! A huge thanks to the team for setting up this program and I can definitely recommend the Summer School to anybody that has interest in the world of coding.”

- Matthias Rossini, Bachelor Student

The Summer School 2018 and The Summer School 2019 were a huge success: Besides learning the fundamentals of programming and having workshops in the areas IoT, Web Development, AI/ML and Blockchain, the students could deepen their knowledge in a 3-day Hack in a coached group project.

Curriculum

Because of the huge success of the Summer School in 2018 and 2019, we wanted to expand the Summer School in 2020. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 put a spoke in our wheel. Nevertheless, we decided to postpone it to February 2021. The SHSG Winter School consists of 2 parts. The focus will be on AI. Part I is being held virtually and will cover the fundamentals of programming using Python and by building a Pac-Man game. With the gained knowledge you will be able to attend and actively participate in the workshops in Part II.

In Part II there will be interesting workshops, which focus on AI. You will also have the opportunity to work on an own project in a group with guidance from the coaches during the afternoon and to demonstrate your attained knowledge. The groups will consist of BA and MA students as well as Alumni of the University of St. Gallen. At the end of the week, you will present your project and there will be a closing event.

If you are interested, do not hesitate to apply now!
